In the afternoon, just after I brought Miles and his friend, Stu, home from school, I left to go give blood. Miles and Stu played outside with Lance while I was gone. I have A negative blood, which I know is in high demand. But I was surprised when they asked if I would be willing to give a double donation. After they explained it to me, I said, yes. Basically, they would hook me up to a machine which would spin my donated blood, separate out the red cells from the plasma, and then pump the plasma back into my veins. They told me that would help me feel a whole lot better. What they really want and need is my red cells. That is what they give people when you hear about people getting blood. I thought about the blood I received after I gave birth to Miles. I also thought about Dad and all of the blood he needed. I felt super happy to donate.

But I also felt super funky. Just as she was explaining the weird sensations I would feel, my face felt all cold and tingly. I also felt super sleepy and shivery, and really drained. I tasted a weird taste and felt like I might pass out. But with some pretzels and some Tums, which they swore would help, I made it through okay.
Back at home, my kids were super proud of me. That was probably the best part. :) I whipped up some fish sandwiches with tartar sauce for dinner while the kids raced around the backyard. We had friends out there, and the weather has been so gorgeous. It was a fantastic afternoon! When we sat down to dinner, almost everyone was happy.
Greg was looking forward to an evening out in his shop. And I was cleaning up and getting ready for a little party I had been invited to. Emma needed gas in her car, so she took all of the kids to the store for some ice cream. Lance had fallen asleep at the dinner table. So I carried him back to his bed. It's hard to be three years old. He's been quite the crazy guy lately. He has no idea that my whole life doesn't revolve around his. And he's probably right, because lately he has been the center of everything! His screams have earned him that spot! Ha!
I did a few dishes in the quiet house. It felt nice. The party tonight was called a "Favorite Things" party. We were each supposed to bring three of our favorite things. I made cute little packages with some Red Wine Vinegar, a sea-salt grinder, and a cute little glittery notebook from TJ Maxx, because I love to write, and I love TJ Maxx.

The party was really fun! There were a lot of girls there, and we laughed and laughed. I came home with a box of tea (which was so funny to me!), a lotion (that is way too strong-smelling for me!), and a little bottle of room spray from the store Krumpets. I LOVE that smell. So I was super happy about that! But the best part was the fun party and the great company.
Kelsey and I laughed and talked on the drive home in Greg's fancy car. We had a good time. After I dropped her off, I opened the garage door. Greg was still in his shop working. I startled him so much with the garage door. It was funny. He had lost all track of time. We visited for a few minutes out in the garage before he wrapped it up and came in.
We sat in bed and talked about our day. I felt like I had so many things to still do: club volleyball memberships to register for, emails to look at and answer, papers and agendas to print... but my eyes felt so heavy. I finally sighed in resignation. I shut my computer and went to brush my teeth.
"I'm just so tired," I complained to Greg, "I can't get anything else done."
And then I remembered the blood donation. It was nearing 11:00 anyway, so I had every reason to be tired, but this was like I just couldn't keep my eyes open. I knelt and prayed before I climbed under the covers and drifted off. I would think about my to-do list tomorrow...
