October 8, 2017

Today is the birthday of my precious last baby: Lance!  He's three years old.  He is so cuddly, so cute, and so much fun.  We all love Lance.  He is a super picky eater, surviving on cheese sandwiches and yogurt. :)  He loves to play outside on the trampoline or to have the kids push him on the swings.  He loves to watch Lego Batman and he knows every word.  He loves to read books and play with little figures.  He is very into Super Mario and he carries his little Mario and Luigi guys everywhere we go.    He is a great talker, he finally loves nursery, and instead of saying, "yes," he always says, "okey."  It is super cute.  He also loves dogs, swimming like crazy, and he LOVES his mommy.  I get lots of hugs and kisses from Lance. Happy third birthday, Lancer!!

I could hardly sleep last night--my legs hurt so much!!  But I am actually moving better than I thought I would.  We celebrated Lance's birthday yesterday, but I wanted to write about it today.

Everyone came over in the evening: the Westons, the Eardleys, and Mom.  It was perfect, pleasant weather.  The kids played in the yard, Greg grilled hamburgers, and Mom took care of everything else while Stalee and I limped around.  :) Emma, Kamree, and Julia had made really cute cupcakes for Lance.

Three years old!!
We ate and played and then the girls brought out the cupcake with candles on them.  Lance was so excited to blow out the candles.  He loved his superman and batman toys from my mom.  Greg and I gave him a little basketball hoop and some balls and a little balance bike (with no pedals).  I'm going to try really hard to get him to learn that bike.  My kids aren't the fastest learners when it comes to bike riding!!

Batman and Superman from Grandma
He got the cutest new red bike.  He's not so sure about it.  Ha!
Lance was so cute and so happy to have everyone celebrating him.  Dinner was so great.  Food never tasted so good!!  I'm so happy that other than my sore, sore legs, my body is feeling great.  I haven't been too tired, or sick, or any of the other issues that usually come up after a long run.  I feel great, just sore.

At the end of the night, we all hugged and kissed goodbye.  I hated to see such a wondrous day end.  I knew that I would never forget this day.  A lot has happened in the last three years, but my life would never be complete without my little Lance in it.  I am so thankful that I was prompted to have him, that I somehow survived that pregnancy, and that he has been an absolute joy in our lives.

Today when I peeked into the nursery, they were singing him happy birthday.  He was sitting on the chair like a big boy.  He was all smiles.  We had home-cooked pizza for dinner.  Lance sat up at the table and ate along with us.  That doesn't always happen.  It felt like a new era.  He's three years old.  Gone are the beloved baby days.  And even though that tugs at my mother heart strings, it also brings me joy to think of all the new things our family will experience together.

I've been telling everyone today that I am now turning my attention to golf.  :)  I could see Greg's eyes light up a little.  I'm taking a break from running.  And that's okay.  It feels so awesome to know that I set this goal almost a year ago.   Stalee and I did it.  We really did it.
