February 3, 2017

The concert was great and it was fun to bring home two house guests!  We shared brownies and ice cream and got to know them a little bit.  Their names are Isaac and Christian, and they are both returned missionaries.  Christian has red hair, served in London, recently got married, and is studying for medical school.  Isaac is studying opera (which fascinated me to no end), served a mission in Mexico, and is still single at 25--not for lack of trying, he pointed out!  They were both very nice and super easy to host.

I was supposed to feed them breakfast, so I made waffles and scrambled eggs.  I wasn't sure how much they would eat, and I certainly didn't want them to feel pressure to eat more than they wanted to.  So, I started cleaning up and casually mentioned that there was still a little bit of waffle batter left over.  After a slight hesitation on their part, they both shyly asked for a second waffle!  So then I dished them up more eggs and poured them another glass of orange juice.  It was a HUGE breakfast, in my opinion.  But Greg reminded me later: You are forgetting their age!  It was funny.

Greg and I went on a little date Friday night.  Our dates are getting so difficult to plan.  Fridays are crazy with basketball starting at 5 and ending at 8.  By the time we shuffle everyone back and forth, and now Greg helps coach the boys, it is hard to fit in a Friday night date.  We've tried Saturday a few times, but Friday always sounds so much more fun to me.  Saturday night feels like the time to shower everyone, get ready for Sunday, and spend time as a family.  But I've grown to love going on our weekly date!

Anyway, we decided to try out Pizzeria Limone.  It was an interesting place with authentic Italian pizzas, I suppose.  I ordered the Pizza Caprese.  They make you your own pizza right there and put it in the brick oven.  Mine had tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and balsamic vinegar.  Hmmmm, similar ingredients to Emma's bruschetta.  So guess what?  I loved it!!  Greg was hot, so he actually wanted to sit out on the patio (which was cold, but I got my coat from the car, and I'm NEVER going to complain about eating outside!).  They had the cutest patio with lights and little trees surrounding it.  We ate and talked about our upcoming trips and some things we could do for Greg's fortieth birthday this year.  It was really relaxing and fun.  I am so thankful that Greg and I have the best time together alone.  It makes it that much more important that we get those times together.  Even with our busy lives, I love when we make our marriage a priority.

Once at home, we put things back in order and got the kids into bed.  And then I went to the stake center to pick up our BYU guests.  They were a little late so I had a few minutes to sit in the car and read the end of my current book I am reading: The Girl in the Box.  It's a crazy sci-fi book, but it's been a good one.  The only problem is I'm suffering from "reader's thumb."  Or something like that!  Ha ha!  It hurts to hold the book in my hand.  Probably from too much holding my phone, but when I told Greg about it, he about died.  He said he always knew I would suffer from all of my reading!  I just said, "It's been completely worth it."  Oh, how I love to read!
