In the Book of Mormon, they would occasionally change the way they reckoned their time based on major events. They went from the years since Lehi left from Jerusalem, to the reign of the judges, and then to the time since the Savior appeared.
I sort of feel like that. Today is Day One as the Relief Society President. 😂 And it was a good day.
I did my Monday morning cleaning, did the laundry, visited two sisters dealing with cancer, cried with them, went to two Parent Teacher Conferences at the elementary school, drove the basketball carpool for Julia, sat outside with Lance while he played, listened while Emma taught her piano lessons, made a home cooked dinner, had family night, helped with showers and bedtime, kissed everyone good night, and prepared for my first presidency meeting in the morning. I accomplished way more than I normally do!
Mom has been such a huge support to me. She has called and given me such amazing advice about my new calling. I told her that she has shown me the way. I'm so blessed to have her. We cried again. She told me that she was proud of me. She reminded me of the days when Emma was a baby and I thought I was so busy that I didn't have time to eat! She said, "You've come a long way, baby!!" It was funny.
But the more I thought about that, the more I realized how much I've grown in my life. At this rate, I'm excited to see what I will be by the end. I'm so grateful for the ways I've been taught, shaped, and stretched in my 38 years. Life is amazing that way.
