March 9, 2017

I may have been down for two weeks, but I'm not out.  I've been back on the treadmill this week doing my thing.  I always get so nervous when I don't run, like I'm going to lose all of the hard work I've put in.  But those fears are usually a little exaggerated.  Running aggravated my cough a bit, but I felt pretty strong and good as I ran.  I even did some speed work.  While I was running, I started thinking about Emma's first high school track meet this Friday.  She is running the 400-meter race for the Varsity team.  I'm super nervous for her.  I decided that I would test out a 400 on the treadmill, just get a feel for what Emma has to do.  So, I set the treadmill at a speed of 10 (6-minute mile) and tried to run a 400.  Emma needs to run it in 1:05 to qualify for the the State Tournament.  First of all, I couldn't maintain that speed for a minute.  I had to slow it down.  I probably ran it in a minute forty-five.  And I was dying!  I suddenly was so amazed at Emma.  And blown away but what we are expecting her to do!  The 400 is a grueling, long sprint.  One that I couldn't do!  Ha ha.

I look a little dead, but I'm back to running!
But I'm hoping I can run 26.2 miles, even if I can't do the 400!
