March 6, 2017

The whole house smells of bacon tonight.  I cooked two packages of it for dinner.  That and some sausage, eggs, Texas toast french toast, and a big bowl of chopped up strawberries.  We washed it down with our favorite orange juice--Simply Orange.

It was once again hard to get out of bed this morning.  My bed was cozy and soft, and I had a little warm body (Lance) against my back.  Somehow I stumbled to my feet to start this day.  I told myself that I needed to be back to normal today.  It was full steam ahead.  Stalee told me that she ran six miles on Saturday.  I've been really worried about the state of my running, so I decided I'd better run today.

I cleaned and washed and worked and folded.  I had Miles and Austin both home sick, but that didn't slow me down.  While I worked in the laundry room, I listened to an Easter talk by President Monson from a few years ago.  He sounded so strong and healthy.  It made me sad to think of how frail he is now.  But as I listened to him eloquently talk about the Atonement and the Savior, I felt the spirit.  I was listening in preparation for my Young Women's lesson this Sunday.  I'm so grateful for my Savior and the Atonement.  What a beautiful message President Monson shared!

In the afternoon, I took the girls to volleyball practice and headed home.  I had plans to go running.  I felt I needed to go running!  But instead, I ate chocolate chip cookies and curled up on my bed with 'To Kill A Mockingbird.'  I am LOVING that book.  I remember thinking it was okay when I read it in school.  But now, I'm just dying to read it whenever I can!  It's so sweetly written.  I just know I didn't love it this much twenty years ago.  After a while, I closed my eyes for a quick snooze.  I was pulled from my slumber by the wild noises coming from the family room.  Miles, Owen, and Austin were in the middle of some wild game Miles had created.  It was loud, but they were having a lot of fun.  Thanks to my lazy streak, I had let Lance sleep way too long.  So, I went and got him up and then let him play with the ABC magnets on the fridge while I started cooking up some bacon and cutting strawberries.

Soon Greg and the girls arrived home.  We all sat around the table eating and discussing spring break 2018... Hawaii??  The kids were thrilled at the prospect.  We are a lucky bunch.  And we love Hawaii!  And I'll be there in a couple of weeks.  I hope to be running along the beach in the mornings.  So, I promise to run tomorrow.  I can't wait!!

After his long nap, Lance is enjoying a late night with us.  Greg is watching the BYU basketball game, and we are all getting a bit sleepy.  I'm gonna call it a night.

It's been a great day!
