Today was such a beautiful day. I got up and got busy, and then my body reminded me that I'm still not feeling 100 percent. So, I flopped back onto my bed, grabbed a good book and read while the little boys played cars on the floor. My good book of choice right now is "To Kill A Mockingbird." I've read this book before, about 25 years ago! I didn't mind it then, but I've wanted a revisit for a long time. I was excited to find it among the box of books my mom and dad gave me. It's neat to see little notes and annotations from J.B. and Sunee as I read along. And another funny things is that Emma has been reading it for school. She informed me that they are having a big test on the book on Friday, and she has only read a few chapters! So, last night, she diligently read for hours up in her bed. Maybe I was just envious of that, because that's what I decided to do today too.
By the afternoon, I knew I needed to get up and get going because things were about to get really busy. So I did. And it did. But after golf, and tennis, and piano lessons, and track, and basketball practice, the day ended with the girls performing in a combined concert. They were so cute. I was one proud mama. Both girls are the only girl in their entire bass section of the band. As Emma's band walked up on stage, it was a sea of boys and then one cute girl, Emma, in the middle of all of them. Emma and the trumpets usually play in the back, so it is difficult to see them, but Julia and the trombones were on the end. She was so beautiful and fantastic up there with her trombone. Then, when all of the bands combined, Emma got to stand up on the side of the stage and play. It was so great to see her. We were so proud of the way they played. I love my girls. I'm thrilled to see them be so accomplished!

Emma came straight home and went right back to reading. By about 10:30, she had finished her book. It's been so long since I read it, that I can't even remember the ending. I'm excited to catch up to her! It's been a great day.
