April 4, 2017

I hate to keep saying it, but....Today was just plain crazy!!

We've got Jill and her boys here for their spring break.  It has been so much fun.  We absolutely love hosting the Kramers.  My kids love them all so much.  I let Austin stay home from school and everyone played and swam outside all day.

We've also got Joni and her family staying with Mom and Dad this week.  So they all came over to swim and play all day too.  Mom brought left over hamburgers and hot dogs and it was just a big party pretty much all day.

I also had workers here some of the day.  The pool guys came and got things up and running.  A gate guy came a repaired our pool gate so that it swings shut better every time.  We had some guys come and fix our door handles and work on our french doors, adjusting them and measuring them because we have one set that needs to be replaced.

Then, Emma had a track meet.  She did such a fantastic job! She ran the 4 x 200 relay and she absolutely killed it.  She got her team a really large lead, and they kept it to win their heat by a long shot.  She also did so well in the 4 x 100 relay.  It is so fun to see her run.  I love it!

Then, Austin had another baseball game.  Everyone went to cheer him on, and I brought Emma from her track meet and met them there.  I also brought bags full of Cafe Rio food for our family and Jill's family.  Everyone was so happy.

We somehow fit piano lessons in there, but we skipped out on scouts and young women's.  It was hard getting kids out of the pool!!

We spent the evening eating ice cream and introducing the Kramer's to our famous Jackbox TV games.  Everyone had such a fun time together.

The only sad part is that I somehow let Owen get absolutely fried today.  His back and shoulder are SO sunburned.  I can't even begin to say how terrible I feel.  When he jumped in the pool in the morning, the sun was hardly up, so I didn't put any sunscreen on.  I never dreamed that as different kids got in and out of the pool, somehow Owen would just keep staying in.  He swam for HOURS.  Finally, I looked at him and realized that he had never taken a break and that I had never put any sunscreen on him.  I ran in the house and grabbed him a sun shirt and some sunscreen, but by that point, the deed was done.  It was so sad as I put him to bed, covered in aloe vera.  He told me how much it hurt and I had to gently lay him back on his bed.  I sat by his bed, rubbing his hair and reading him a story.  Without moving a muscle, his eyes started drooping and he fell right asleep.  He must have been exhausted from all of that swimming.  It really made me excited for this summer.  Especially with the way Lance jumped right back, trying to swim just like last summer.  He refuses to wear any floaties and he just goes under the water constantly.  It is so cute.  He was so excited to be in the pool again, and he was so proud of himself too.

Well, now my eyes are drooping.  It's been a long, fun day.  It's been full of sun and water and fun. That's just the way I like my days to be.  I'm one lucky ducky.
Good night!
