April 2, 2017

Sunday.  It was one of those glorious days, when nature shines her smiling face on our corner of the world.  When the birds are chirping and the sun is warm.  When the cousins come to town, and we cook hamburgers and hot dogs and eat way too much homemade salsa.  When we make snow cones and the kids sit on the trampoline eating them before they melt.  When the women sit around the kitchen table and share stories and talk about life.  When the evening comes way too soon and we all have to hug and kiss each other goodbye.  When we all climb into bed, content to fall asleep with the memories of the beautiful day.

Today was General Conference.  We were so privileged to listen to the messages and testimonies shared.  Once again, I was so uplifted.  My spirit was touched, and I found myself profoundly grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The kids were all so well behaved.  We got to listen with very few interruptions.  Between sessions, Greg played in the backyard with the kids.  I had all the windows thrown open, so I could hear them all laughing and playing as I straightened up and made lunch.  Greg is such a wonderful dad.  The kids love him endlessly.  Sometimes he gets them all going so wildly that I have to calm it all down.  And he is the wildest of all!  But I love that he plays with our kids.  They need him so much.  And they love him with all of their hearts.  (I love him too!).

We had such a lovely time spending the evening with Joni and her family (down for their spring break), and Sunee's family, and my parents.  The visit filled my heart up with love.  I am so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.  It's always a good time when we get together.

And to quote a family reunion song that someone made up, "There ain't no party like a Haws party!"
