August 2, 2017

I got up out of bed feeling slightly better than before.  I've really been working hard on my physical therapy.  Still nervous about my bowels, I decided to try the treadmill.  While I was chugging along, Miles woke up and came in.  I told him to go get his shoes on and come ride the exercise bike.  He obeyed.

Miles and I had a race.  I had 1.5 miles to go to hit my four-mile mark. So I told him to see if he could ride five miles by the time I finished.  He rode SO hard.  I was so proud of his competitive spirit.  The last mile he rode was a full on sprint.  I just barely beat him.  He flopped off the bike, exhausted.  By now, Owen and Austin were awake.  I made them get their shoes on and come do some exercise.  Austin was on the bike and Owen was on the treadmill.  Owen had to run a half mile before Austin rode three miles.  Owen won, but Austin really had a hard time.  I worry a lot about him because he just doesn't have good stamina.  I worry about his asthma. He is probably just so out of shape, which makes me frustrated about our hot summers in St. George.  I hate that no one can go outside and play.  And we can only swim when I can take them out.  I have mom guilt about my boys and their activity levels.  Ugh!

I've been really worried today about Dad.  He went in for his knee replacement.  It's been stressful leading up to this.  He has been in so much pain.  I got a chance to talk to him before he went in.  I wished him luck and told him that I loved him.  I asked him if he was scared and he told me that he wasn't scared, just anxious for what he knew it would entail.  We had a good talk.

He texted me this afternoon and told me that he had made it.  I was so relieved!  He told me that Mom was reading to him from my blog and it made him feel so close to me.  Then he ended it with "I love you."  That touched my heart.

I took Emma and Julia school shopping.  We had such a good time at the mall.  I am so thankful to Miles who babysat all day long!  It was a little too long for all of them, but the girls got a lot of cute things and we are feeling ready for school.

I made waffles for dinner (lame, I know) and hurried Julia to her basketball practice.  On the way home, I stopped by Walmart for groceries.  We had gotten to the critical level.  By the time I got home and put the groceries away, Greg was coming in the door.  He had eaten such a big lunch in Mesquite that he wasn't really hungry for dinner (thank goodness because it was so boring!).

I took Austin and Owen with me to pick up Julia from basketball.  We dropped her off at Young Women's and then tried to do a little school shopping of the boys.  We didn't really find anything good, but we had fun together.  They don't really need much anyway.

Greg has the next two days off of work so we are looking forward to getting some good stuff accomplished and just taking a breath after all of our traveling.

Dad seems to be doing well tonight too.  We got all of the kids to bed a little early and enjoyed a quiet night it.  I am going to meet my group for a run in the morning.  I'm tired just thinking about it, but really encouraged after my treadmill run.

It's been a good day!
